is it wrong that i have never had the guts to taste chet's baby food yet i still make him eat it?
probably.
but baby food never smells like i think it should. you would think peaches would smell tasty. wrong! they don't. their smell makes me gag. and yesterday we opened a jar of turkey and gravy baby food, and it honestly smelt like cat food. who makes this stuff? has mr. gerber tasted pureed turkey from a jar? doubt it.

oh chet, please hurry up and get some teeth so we can feed you good food.

the other night i was walking down a dark side walk and passed a pair of grim reapers. BIG grim reapers. if it weren't halloween time i would have been even more creeped out then i was.
halloween is such a strange holiday. i prefer christmas.

chet has rosy cheeks - i hope that means a tooth is on the way!

we went to a community 'trunk or treat' last night. we didn't have the guts to collect candy for chet, but we had fun watching our friends kids fill their buckets. what was the best part? well, it definitely wasn't the watered down hot chocolate they were giving out. i think it was this giant shopping cart that drove kids around the parking lot:
the shopping cart is from broulims - one of the grocery stores here in rexburg. it is pronounced bro-lims. but when we first moved here matt always called it brew-lims. i loved teasing him for that...talk about sounding like a textbook canadian!

this is our little family at the 'trunk or treat':
(i got in trouble for wearing sandals with my my winter jacket...)

24 sleeps until arizona!
52 sleeps until calgary!

a couple years ago matt and i were babysitting my sisters 3 kids. at the time, jackson was the youngest and he had this major explosion in his diaper. it was the grossest/funniest thing ever. we weren't sure how to go about fixing this. matt and i hadn't changed a lot of diapers growing up. we are both the youngest in our families. and i had never fallen for the "it's good practice" trick when some one tried to get me to change a diaper.
(to any one who doesn't have a kid yet: don't fall for that either. changing a diaper isn't that hard, so it doesn't need much 'practice'. and you get lots and lots of chances to perfect your skills with your own babies.)
anyways...to make the story short, there was poo all over the place. jackson was covered and it had some how made its way up matts arms. i wasn't messy though because i was lying on the floor laughing hysterically. matt didn't see the humor. he was just ticked cause i wasn't helping him.

unfortunately, today karma came back and got me.

i was all alone with chet when it happened - his first blowout. there was no one there to help. and there was poo everywhere! that is when a onezie really sucks. it is impossible to get a poo-ey onezie over a head without spreading the mess.
chet was sad. i was sad. and tank was desperately trying to get his paws on anything stinky.
this mess wasn't nearly as entertaining as when matt was the one with poo up to his elbows.

i managed to snap a picture of the disaster. but i have decided to spare you all.

check THIS out.

.

what did i do today?
well, let me tell you.
i made a gnome costume, made a roast beet dinner, and downloaded the new taylor swift cd.
what a day!

1. GNOME COSTUME.
we had our ward halloween party tonight, and i left it until today to make chet a costume, so it wasn't the best. a few people confused him for a dwarf. and i kinda think he looks like a blue peter pan. oops. but considering i didn't have a pattern, and was using scraps of left over felt, i think it turned out cute enough.
our bishops grand-daughter was a gnome too, so chet had a gnome girlfriend. aww.
the other day we noticed there is a kids movie coming out soon called gnomeo and juliet - that would be a good title for this picture!
matt and i didn't dress up for the party. laaaame, i know! i didn't think anyone else would dress up but i was very wrong. we were one of the few who didn't show our halloween spirit. i'm not sure what's worse: being the only person who doesn't dress up or being the only person who does?
we did have really good intentions of entering a pumpkin in the pumkin carving contest at the party. we carved pumpkins with our neighbors, tara and andrew, on saturday night. but it turns out that pumpkins wilt after 3 days of sitting on your kitchen counter. soo...instead of putting our pumpkin in the contest, we put it in the trash. this is what our pumpkin looked like on saturday night:
side note: matt thinks he sounds more idahoan if he pronounces pumpkin like this - PUNKIN.
i'm not sure about that, matt!

2. ROAST BEEF DINNER.
yes, i made a real meal. with meat and all! this. is. rare.
it definitely wasn't like a roast beef dinner that our mom's can make, but matt and i enjoyed it.
we have actually been spoiled with dinners lately. on saturday we were treated to bbq-ed hamburgers at our pumpkin carving evening. and yesterday we got to go to our other neighbors parents' house for a sunday feast. it was fun to hang out with their family. but it sure made us miss ours. :(

3. TAYLOR SWIFT.
it was a good day. i got to put 13 new t-swift songs on my ipod. i usually take my ipod with me when i walk tank, so this will make my walks so much more enjoyable. i needed something to make me excited to get outside for walks now that it is getting chilly. thanks taylor!

last night we went to this place called the haunted mill. it's about a 10 minute drive from rexburg. and it's creeeeeepy. they took this abandoned old mill (below) and turned it into the best haunted house i have ever been through. it takes about 30 minutes to make your way through everything.
we got to go with our friends cody and erin. they were so fun. and it was so nice to have another girl there to scream with. my throat is actually sore from screaming so much! erin even teared up a bit right at the start - the guy that welcomes you is unbelievably creepy. and the boys admitted to being scared at times too.

what makes it so creepy?
well, it has the usual haunted house things like people that pop out at you, creepy music, and spooky decorations. but it also has neat illusions - like at one point you think you are getting pushed off a ledge, but it turns out there is a mirror to step on where you think there is nothing. it also doesn't help that you are in the middle of no where, in an abandoned building, in the dark. at some parts it is so dark that you can't even see your hand in front of your face. and some parts are so small that you have to crawl. that was the worst part for me. i got so claustrophobic in the tunnels. you couldn't see a thing, but you could feel the walls touching you on all sides. i have no idea how a big person would make it through there! in those spots we made a train and held onto each others feet as we crawled. last night i kept having nightmares about the mill collapsing while i was in one of the tunnels. i didn't sleep a whole lot!

on a less creepy note, chet sat for the first time yesterday. yay!

and this is just matt and chet bundled for a night walk.

here's another quick chet video. it's of him laughing. once again, feel free to watch if you'd like...

halloween is almost here and matt and i have done nothing to prepare. we haven't even eaten anything pumpkin flavored, or bought miniature candy bars. we really need to get cracking. we need to figure out our costume and pumpkin carving ideas. we are excited to dress up chet. we used to love dressing up tank, but he has kind of taken the back seat since chet came along.
hmm...i wonder if people would catch on to our selfish motives to collect candy for ourselves if we took chet out trick-or-treating this year?

speaking of chet, he is getting so close to sitting on his own. it's very exciting. another exciting thing is that his hair is coming in quite nicely now. it's hard to see it in pictures cause it's so fair, but i swear it's looking oh, so handsome. something nice that chet does now is he holds his own bottle. now we don't have to construct a crazy bottle propping contraption when he wants to eat at inconvenient times!
below is a link for a video of chet. this video isn't too exciting, but you are welcome to watch it. i'm thinking chet's grandparents and other family might like it the most...

i am quite confident that chet is going to grow up to be a 'great guy'. because everyone who knows a chet, other then my chet, tells me something like 'oh, i have an ol' buddy named chet. he is great guy!'. i've never heard of a bad chet. so looks like we picked a good name after all.

there is this new tv show on mtv called 'the seven'. i haven't ever watched a full episode, but the idea of the show is that they tell you the top seven things you need to know about celerity gossip for that day. really important stuff! they also have different celebrities quickly list seven things they couldn't live without. sooo matt and i tried listing our seven things. (we exempted people, gospel related things, and literal things - like air - or else the list would be too predictable).

MATT's LIST
war movies

q-tips

nose picking

big-macs

a nearby toilet

mellow music

susan boyle (he just ran out of ideas on this one).

PAM's LIST

diet coke

google

sweat pants

bed buddies (that is what i call a wheat bag that you heat in the microwave).

my ipod

toothbrush

milk chocolate chips

you can tell me what your list would be, if you'd like.

a writer for the school paper wrote this article last week. it caused quite the ka-fuffle on campus. there were many mean letters to the editor in the paper this week! matt and i have thought of so many cutting comments to write to her, but have resisted posting any of them...so far!

this morning the grass was crunchy with frost. :(
and i was out walking in my flip flops. it might be time to pull out my mittens and boots for these chilly mornings.
with the temperature dropping i am getting sad that we don't have a remote starter on our car anymore. to me, there is nothing worse then starting your day scraping ice off the windows of your frozen car. yuck! when i was in high school my dad used to always let me park my car in his spot in the garage during the winter. he would park out on the snowy driveway. i never really appreciated that until i had to go a winter without a garage. i have the nicest dad ever.

this week has been very...normal. which isn't a bad thing. but it just doesn't make for any good blogging!
matt has been crazy busy with school, i am still trying to become an etsy sensation, and chet is just being his good little self. he likes to laugh now, and his laugh is a-dor-a-ble.

remember how i said our taste in treats is opposite? well, we went to twizl berry again tonight and i got a picture of it. i think mine looks much tastier!

admitting what you did is always the first step. so here goes:
we did it.
we. watched. twilight.
(gasp!)

i have been almost pleased with myself for not jumping on the twilight bandwagon for all these years. i'm such a rebel.
but the other night our friend, cody, told us we needed to watch it and he sent us home with his twilight dvd. and yes, cody is a boy!
in all honesty, i really didn't think i'd like twilight. i don't usually like far fetched stories - things that are fantasy or sci-fi usually frustrate me. so that has been one of my excuses for not becoming a twi-hard. i also have used the excuse that i'm not a big reader. i like to read magazines and creep around on blogs, but i'm not one to sit down and read a book. a girl i used to work with leant me her twilight book a couple years ago. i read the first 2 pages to matt as he drove me home from work, and then never opened the book again. it stayed in our glovebox for a year, until dallas asked for her book back. sorry dallas. i still feel bad about that!

anyways, the big question is DID WE LIKE IT?
well... matt is pretty disappointed that we didn't get to see any werewolf action in this movie. and i had a hard time seeing past jacob's awful hair. but those things aside, we both agree twilight was much better then we had expected. and although i don't think we will be camping outside the theater, adorned in team edward t's, when the final movie is released, we are definitely interested to see what happens next.

speaking of vampires, did you know that matt's family history can be traced back to the real count dracula? yep it can.

chet got a halloween card from his grandma leavitt yesterday. he loved (eating) it.
thanks grandma!

mcdonalds monopoly started again this week. matt and i are reeeally hoping we will win it one year! even though the odds are VERY against us, we still have hope. i searched what the odds of winning are and i found out that they only print 3 stamps that win you the million dollars. hmm... maybe we should shoot for winning one of the smaller prizes. we did win a small smoothie. that's cool too, right?
but can you imagine what it would be like to win a million dollars? so fun. i think we would celebrate by going on a wicked vacation, and then raiding urban outfitters.

it's been a rainy week. i definitely miss the lovely weather we were enjoying up until sunday. but, if it has to rain, i like the kind of storms we are getting. ones with thunder and lightning and then followed by rainbows.

chet doesn't likes peas. they make him gag. it's kinda entertaining. i don't blame him for not liking peas though - i don't either. they bring back the awful memories of when i got my wisdom teeth out. i used bags of frozen peas to hold against my chubby face. oh, how i hate the smell of thawing peas.

i have always wondered what the big deal with 'nie nie' is. i always see those 'i read nie nie' buttons on blogs but i never bothered looking into it (maybe cause i am secretly jealous of her blog success - imagine making a living by writing a blog!) i really should have checked her out sooner. because i came across this movie the other night, when matt and i were watching some mormon messages together, and now i know why everyone reads her blog. she is inspiring. and adorable.

and, in case you hadn't heard, taylor swift released another song today from her cd that comes out at the end of the month. yipee.

i start lots of projects, but don't always finish them.
but today we hung the mobile that we have been working on for chet. and it was fun to see the final product. his bedding is space themed so we made the mobile to match.
i feel like i could go crazy trying to get a decent picture of the mobile. it keeps turning...like it is supposed to! this is the best picture i got.
sweet dreams, little astronaut. :)

'tis the season for giant man eating beetles.
fa la la la la la la la la.
we haven't seen any bugs like this in the 6 months we have lived here in rexburg, but in the last 2 days we have seen a couple. and they are nasty! these bugs make me realize that there is a bonus to being on the second floor of our apartments. i usually loathe carrying the car seat, the groceries, or on lazy days, my own body up the stairs to our apartment. but knowing that i am that much further from these creepy things makes it all worth it.

matt baked quiche yesterday. i was very impressed. it is something i would never have thought to make, and was pretty skeptical about, but it turned out very tasty.
while the quiche was baking, matt said something like, "well, i sure hope this turns out after all the time and effort i have put into it."
oh, really? i have never felt that way before matt. you always love the things i spend all day making.
NOT!
