matt's basketball team had their first game on tuesday night.

and they won. which means they have had a perfect season thus far :)

yes, that is there name.

i forget where the 'comet' part of the name comes from. but the 'flaming' part is inspired by the calgary boys on the team. (calgary flames...)

and - incase you wanted to know - we are seriously addicted to dill pickle spitz lately. seriously.

matt and i got chet all handsome for church yesterday. we even did his hair...which we never do.

so we took pictures.

but 3 hours later...

(the missing sock makes me laugh)

i'm sure every parent has been here. and i'm guessing i need to get used to this. chet just does not care about looking dapper.

before we had chet i was certain i was going to dress my kid in nice clothes. all the time. i used to think the parents that dressed their kids in sweatpants and onezies were so lame.

but to all you parents who i used to judge, i would just like to say i'm sorry. it sure isn't as easy as you'd think.

hot tubbing.

a few years back we bought one of those tall, trendy kitchen tables.

and today we cut its tall, trendy legs down.

(and when i say WE cut the legs down, i mean matt did.

but that is just what happens when you get married. everything is WE.

like WE had a baby. even though that was so all ME!)

anywho.. we decided to cut the table down to normal size for chet. not that chet uses the table yet. but he uses a high chair. and the high chair wasn't working so well with our tall table.

so you could say we cracked.

we gave in.

practicality won.

we now have a family friendly kitchen table.

but don't you go on thinking that this is the beginning of a long list of family friendly changes.

because i know what you are thinking - next comes a van.

but you are wrong!

tank used to like having a little buddy...

but his buddy isn't so little anymore.

this sweet girl is jane. and today was her 1st birthday party.

her poofy dress made me kind of wish chet was a girl.

this is chet's other friend, beckam.

we tried to get these boys to wrestle. unfortunately, neither of them can move yet...

despite how happy he might look with me in this picture, chet has turned into a total daddy's boy. if matt and i are both playing with chet and matt leaves the room, chet has a melt down. if i leave the room, chet doesn't even notice.

maybe that means matt should stay at home and i should work.

i haven't convinced matt of this yet. but i'm working on it.

he has always liked the song 'mr mom' and i think that is a sign :)

being a stay at home mom is really hard for me. i love chet, but i miss working.

if america would just give me a green card, i would love to have a job.

we sent in the papers to get green cards and in (up to) 9 years we will get them.

isn't that the most ridiculous timeline? i'll be too ancient to work in 9 years..

you know what else would be nice about having a green card?

we could apply for game shows like minute to win it and the amazing race.

matt and i would destroy those shows. easy.

i signed up for a zumba class. my first class was this morning - at 6am!

i haven't had to wake up to an alarm very often since chet came along. so i was really worried that i was going to sleep in. but i didn't.

i was up, and ready to party, at 5:30. that might not seem that early to some (the world gym parking lot was packed when i drove past it on my way to class which means lots of people were exercising well before me.) but, it was dark when i went to the class, and dark when i left it. so it was early enough for me.

zumba is so fun. my instructor is a nut. and i was kind of embarrassed when i was trying to do her bollywood moves! but i loved it. i can't wait for my next class on tuesday.

you should really give zumba a try, if you haven't already.

matt also signed up for something fitness-y. starting in a couple weeks, he will be playing on a basketball team at the school with his friends. i'm excited to go cheer him on.

FACT: there are 64 restaurants in rexburg.

i don't like messy things. and that is unfortunate because chet is getting messier by the day.

teething has turned him into the drooliest, snottiest little critter i have ever seen.

and now that he is eating real foods, meal time isn't as tidy as it used to be.

this mess was made from one baby cracker. it's actually kind of impressive. i don't think i could make such a mess if i tried.

ashley...this was a cracker that you gave us. so i blame you for this :)

and can someone do something about all this snow? pleeease?

while walking tank this morning i lost him in a snow drift. he pounced on to, what he thought was, a hard pile of snow and disappeared.

there is too much snow. make it stop!

matt likes the show man vs wild.

i like picking that show apart. and showing matt how unrealistic it is. that might make me sound heartless, but it really is ridiculous. the guy acts like he is doing super risky things but somehow a guy carrying a camera, and a guy carrying one of those giant fuzzy microphones, are always right behind him. hmm...

so i googled it. [man vs wild + fake]. and i found this funny video.

despite some nasty roads, and one crazy deer, we made it back safe and sound.

but it's even colder here in idaho today then it was in canada. come on!

our trip went by too fast. it always does. we didn't even have time for matt to get a canadian slurpee.

(some things are just so much tastier from canada - slurpees, kraft dinner, oreos, candy bars, and so on.)

we did manage to spend oodles of time with family. play lots of farkle! go on 3 movie dates. go shopping at a good mall (the grande teton is so dissapointing!). catch up with friends. and be lazy.

chet got these stacking boxes for christmas.

but he finds absolutely no joy in knocking down the tower of boxes...like a normal kid! we always have to knock it down for him.

chet prefers to place the blocks neatly on the ground. what a gentle little boy we have :)

we went to the flames game on new years eve with matt's sister, rebecca, and her husband, todd.

the flames won.

and we got a malt.

so, aside from the super frustrating people behind us, the game was great.

throughout the game they kept announcing that the fans should stick around after the game because there would be a fireworks show.

and i said to matt "fireworks in the building?!"

then matt said "pam...honestly... they won't be setting off fireworks in the building."

but turns out matt was wrong. and i was right.

it was a pretty wimpy show! but we still liked it.

later that night we were hanging out at matt's parents house. matt had got a hold of some firecrakers (thanks to our brother-in-law, ben) and the boys were having fun setting them off in the front yard.

but then matt got an idea.

an awful idea.

matt got a wonderful, awful idea.

(yes, i did just quote the grinch)

matt thought it would be funny to set off a firecracker upstairs...where his mom was sleeping.

i think it was one of those 'you had to be there' things. but you can watch it if you click here. i stopped video-ing a bit too early. i missed the part where maralyn threw a glass of water on matt.

i love chet's little body all the time. but i especially love the times when it's not all layered up in clothes.
