i got rained on 5 times yesterday.
2 times while i was on a run.
2 times at calaway park.
and 1 reeeally long time during our hotdog roast with joce and jeff.

seriously rain, bug off.

calaway park is a little amusement park just north of calgary.
it has been there forever.
matt has many fond memories of calaway from his younger years.
so it was fun to go back there yesterday and check it out.
we went with my mom and 3 of our nieces and nephews. {kayla, bailee, and lincoln}

i couldn't believe how brave bailee and lincoln were. much braver then me.
bailee even rode the roller coaster, which is something i didn't even pretend to consider.
i was glad to have kayla there because i hate being the only one screaming on a ride.
and she made sure i didn't have to be :)
soaking wet after the log ride...
battling with some random kid in the bumper cars.
this is us right before we went on one of those big boats that rock back and forth.
if we had taken a picture of us after the ride i would have been sitting on a rock looking very green.
what an awful ride.
chet came to calaway too, but he couldn't do much. maybe next year buddy...

and, just to let you all know, my husband is an absolute brain.
yep.
his grades this last semester were unreal.
three cheers for matty!

it sure is nice to have matt here in calgary.
chet keeps walking around the house saying 'daddy. daddy.'
it's cute.
(even though we aren't totally convinced he knows what he is saying!)

i wrote a few blog posts while we were apart.
but i told myself not to post them because they were so pitiful.
lets just say i'm not cut out to be a husbandless mom.
but hey, i didn't dehydrate from all my tears shed :)
and chet is still in one piece.
(despite falling down 2 sets of stairs.. head first.)
so i guess it wasn't so bad.

we raided my sisters house for warm clothes so we could go on a walk one night.
i'm not sure, but i have a feeling they like boise state..

i can't remember the last time i wore real clothes this many days in a row!
when i stay at home with chet i am very un-motivated to get myself all pretty.
chet sure doesn't care what i wear.
and i prefer being comfy.
so i spend a lot of my time at home in sweatpants.
and when i go out i wear my 'nice' sweatpants :)

unfortunately, i can't wear them to work...

that's alright though, work is still fun.
and thanks to my lovely family and friends, it has gone so smoothly.
i don't even think chet notices that i am gone all day..
dang it!

in other news:

matt got an internship!
yay for matt!

now hurry up, and get your little butt up to calgary, my love.
i stinkin' miss you.

i got to spend a night with some of my favorite high school buddies.
here are the six of us:
and here are our 11 children:
i can't believe we have created so many little people already.. i feel like we just graduated!

you had to be there to appreciate just how ridiculous it was taking that picture.
notice the 3 screaming children in the front row? haha. ya...

life has been a little crazy lately.
the pregnant girl i was supposed to be replacing at work, in august, went into early labor.
and - long story short - my office flew chet and i to calgary so i could start working right away.

it is so fun to be working again.
and chet is having a great time with his cousins.
but we sure miss matt.

i'm so happy that we had a fun long weekend together before i left.

we spent the long weekend in salt lake because i had signed up for a run down there on july 4th.
the freedom half marathon.
it was tough. but i'm so glad i did it.
{if you couldn't already tell, i stole this picture from a website. but, it's of me, so i feel entitled to it!}
the run ended at the capitol building. it was very patriotic!
we went back and walked around the grounds later on that day.

we did all sorts of other fun things throughout the weekend.
we got together with our friends, nate and katie.
we ate out at fun restaurants.
we visited temple square. it's tradition.
we played at legacy park... several times.
the boys swam at our hotel.
and, of course, we celebrated july 4th.
we planned on watching fireworks at a park but chet was too grouchy.
so we decided to watch them from our hotel window instead.
our room was facing south from the 14th floor in down town salt lake, so we were really hoping we would be able to see a couple shows in the distance.

but we were shocked when we could see more then THIRTY different fireworks shows at once.
honest. over thirty. i counted!
it was amazing.

july 4th is my new favorite holiday :)

it was one very fun weekend.
we wore chubby chet right out.

i thought it would be cute to wish our old, american neighbor
a happy canada day.
but, turns out, it wasn't.
he said,
"don't you go being like those mexicans that come up here
and think we should celebrate cinco de mayo.
you're on the wrong side of the border."

umm...
ok.
i won't.

so i'm a little weary to say this now, but i hope everyone else had a happy canada day.

now we are off to salt lake city to enjoy the forth of july festivities :)
