yay for friday!
matt has been so busy this week. he has had crazy amounts of homework. it worries me that he has so much stuff to do this early in the semester. but he assures me it will get better. i hope so. i have missed hanging out with him.

i am learning the fine art of changing a boys diaper. let me share my vast knowledge. there are two important things to remember.

number one.
if you take off a boys diaper and use a cold wipe he WILL pee. and usually he will wait to pee until you have placed a new clean diaper underneath him.
thank goodness chet doesn't get any distance when he pees or else i would be one angry mom.

number two.
if you don't aim the boys manhood in the right direction when you put a new diaper on, the diaper will be of no use. it will all just come out the top. (see picture below).

(yes, chet has a diaper on his head. this is what happens when you are over tired and really sick of changing bums!)

well, looks like spring is over. it was nice while it lasted.
it has been so chilly here the last couple days. and very windy. and i mean crazy, take-your-breath-away, rexburg windy. it's nasty. the other night it was rainy so i tried tanks rain jacket on him. but it turns out he has grown out of this one.
funny tank story:
last night our bishop and his 1st counselor came to meet us. tank is pretty lazy most of the day. but he gets excited when we come home or when someone comes to the door. that's when he gets his toys out and runs around. tank was sleeping peacefully until our bishop rang the door bell. then he got all stupid and decided it would be a good time to bring out prayer bear.

now i don't even know where prayer bear came from. i know we didn't buy it. but tank has had it since he was little. it's a stuffed animal that is a bear kneeling and praying. and tank has decided that she is his girlfriend. tank likes to have his way with prayer bear, if you catch my drift. it's ironic that he picked a righteous bear to do such things with.

my heart sunk when i saw tank trotting into the room with prayer bear. that is just what you want your bishop to see...your horny dog. matt couldn't see the problem because tank was behind him. so i interrupted the conversation to tell matt that to grab prayer bear. matt quickly stole away the bear from tank and threw it down the hall. that was the big mistake. he should have put the bear up out of tanks reach. but he panicked. our bishop thought that the bear was chets and implied that was the reason we had taken it away from tank. matt and i knew that wasn't why, but we both kind of agreed with him so we didn't have to explain that tank actually likes to romp with that bear.

unfortunately while we returned to our visit with our bishop tank trotted down the hall, grabbed prayer bear, brought him back to the main room, and proceeded to do what he does best. right in front of our bishop! it was awkward. so now our bishop knows that we have a fornicating dog and that we lied to him about it! dang it.

we take so many pictures of chet. it's funny because we haven't taken hardly any pictures this past year. but now that chet is here we are always snapping shots. he is growing everyday though, so i want to make sure that we document all his changes. here are some of my favorite parts of chet right now...

his chubby cheeks.

his skinny legs. (the diaper bum makes them look extra skinny).

his double chin. (i'm not generally a fan of double chins, but his has won my heart!).

and well...everything else.
chet is officially 'due'. his due date was yesterday. i can't beleive that he could technically still be inside me. oh my! i would have died if i had to push this monster out. 4lb 8oz was more then enough for me! hats off to those girls who push out more then i had to. i don't know how you did it.
HAPPY DUE DATE CHET!

i had this great idea today to make french fries.

matt was craving them yesterday. so i thought i'd be a sweet little wifey and make him some homemade french fries. however, we do not have a deep fryer. but i didn't think that you needed a deep fryer. i thought i could just heat up a pot of oil and make fries in there. so i peeled and sliced the potatoes and heated the oil up nice and hot.

and then it all went downhill from there.

i know that oil is dangerous, so rather then putting the potatoes in the oil with my hands i got all geared up. i'm sure i looked ridiculous. i put on these big old oven mitts and used salad tongs to grab the potatoes with. i lifted the lid off the pot, through a bunch of potatoes in, and quickly put the lid back on.

the oil started to bubble.
then it flowed all over the oven.
it splashed on the wall,
the counter,
the floor.
then a small fire started!
and to top it off, the fire alarm goes off.

matt came running from the back of the apartment to help me. nothing really awful happened. the fire died down. the alarm eventually stopped. but it was a pain in the butt to clean up. and it was depressing to fail at making french fries.

we just ended up going out for fries instead!

on a better note, matt and i went to devotional up at the school today. every tuesday at 2 o'clock the school has a devotional. it's your choice if you want to go. but the school shuts down. so if you aren't at devotional then you might as well go home. there is a guest speaker that comes and speaks to the student body. there is always a musical number too. we were a little late. (usually we can blame our tardiness on chet, but it wasn't his fault this time) so we didn't get very good seats. it's always easier to focus in good seats. and we were nervous chet was going to have an outburst. so i don't think we got as much out of it as we could have. but i still really liked to be there. and next week will be better. we are lucky to be at this school. it has so many good things for us to take advantage of.

matt took this today and i really liked it!

our niece bailee is turning 7 today. that is crazy. i can't believe how grown up she is.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BAILEE!

our computer is being ridiculous lately. it won't let us attach things. we can't attach pictures or any type of file to anything. not to emails or blogs. and matt can't even attach homework to the school website. it is driving us nuts. i have really wanted to be a good blogger but this is totally ruining my plans. i have actually resorted to using this public computer at our apartment complex to add photos. that's how dedicated i am!

other then our computer sucking, life has been really good this past week. matt has made it through an entire week of classes. he gets to do some actual contruction classes this semester. so he is happy about that. he likes his teachers. and he likes being on campus rather then working online all day. although he did complain that his butt is sore from all the uphill/downhill walking he has to do on campus. pathetic, i know! but, in his defense, who's idea was it to build a university on the side of a hill?

chet and i are having fun at home. we are getting into a routine. but between feeding him and walking tank i don't feel like i am a very productive person. i guess it will just take time. i really like hanging out with him all day. he is such a sweet boy. i often find myself just staring at him and smiling at how adorable he is. the only bad thing about chet is the grunting noises he makes all night long. he is a very quiet sleeper in the day, but as soon as we turn off the lights and get in bed, he starts making all sorts of crazy sounds. we think he might be afraid of the dark! we haven't kicked him out of our room yet, but i think that will happen pretty soon...

we like rexburg. we think we are going to have fun here. there is everything matt and i need to have fun. there are cute restaurants, movie theaters, and all sorts of activities that the school, and our ward, puts on. and if we need a shopping fix or bad traffic we can always head to idaho falls. we went there today to go to target. we got so lost! idaho falls is confusing. we eventually found it, but by then we were all hungry. matt and i had cafe rio. mmm. chet had milk. there is one thing that rexburg can't give us though...our family and friends. we are sad about that. it's funny how you always want what you can't have. we didn't really hang out with people much when we did live in calgary, but now that we can't hang out with them we want to.

here are a couple requested photos of chet. (for you dad!).

matt and chet napping.

tank and chet napping. they are buddies.

bundled up for an evening walk. overkill?!

i can't wait for tuesday to come. 'the hills' and 'the city' are both premiering that night. i have missed them both so much since last season. yay!

we made it to rexburg.

i am usually a crazy person when it comes to road trips. i refuse to stop for pee breaks. if you need to go to the bathroom then you can go when we already have to stop for gas. i hate taking longer then needed to get to a destination.

but looks like i will have to get new rules for my road trips now that i'm a mom. we stopped every hour and a half for chet. each stop we alternated eating/changing with stretching/cuddling. it was a long drive. but we are here. and we are slowly getting settled.

our apartment is still a disaster right now. we keep procrastinating unpacking. i know soon enough we will snap from the frustration of not knowing where any of our things are. and then it will all get done real quick. but until then it stays a big old mess.

i will work on getting pictures of our apartment and our area in rexburg.

here is matt's first day of school picture

(notice the t-shirt and green grass? yay for spring.)

we leave tomorrow for idaho. so i should really be packing and cleaning, not on the internet. oops. i just wanted to put a link to chet's photo shoot on here in case anyone wanted to take a peek. it's just a preview. i will get to see all the shots tomorrow.
he is just too stinkin cute. click here.

i have made several attempts to start a blog. i love blogs. i am really good at snooping around all sorts of blogs. but i have always failed at making my own. i never feel like i have anything worth blogging about. but i have decided to try again. and this time, i am going to stick with it. no matter how simple my life may be, i will attempt to make it bloggable. i think it's a good time to start a blog because matt and i are starting this completely new chapter in our lives. (we just had a lovely little baby and we are moving to idaho for matts schooling.) plus, i think it will be fun to post all our adventures on this blog so that our friends and family back home, and anywhere else they may be, can see what we are up to. wish me luck with being a better blogger!
