we went to the sand dunes yesterday.
the last time we went out there chet was just a baby.
so, this time, he was a lot more fun to take.
he loved it!
it was like he was playing in the biggest sandbox ever.
we dug holes, built castles, made sand-angels, and ran up and down the hills a LOT.
chet had sand EVERYWHERE by the end.
it was in his hair, in his mouth, and there was even a nice stash in his diaper.

the sand dunes are crazy.
you are just driving along through farms fields and *bam* there is sand. everywhere.
i hope we get out there again before it gets too chilly.

this is my last post about calgary:

chet loves trucks.
when we went up to calgary he got to go for drives in lots of trucks. (thanks to grandpas and uncles).
it was magical!
my dad even took him out to his work truck, which is just about the neatest truck a boy could ask for...
it's a truck FULL of tools!

i think it's funny how chet is naturally attracted to such "boy" things.
he is fascinated by trucks, trains, and planes.

rexburg is a perfect place to live if you like those things:
- every local, and their dog, drives a ridiculously big truck.
- we can see train tracks from our living room window. and every day, around lunch time, we hear a train chugging into town.
- there is a small airport a couple blocks away from our complex so we watch little, noisy airplanes fly over us all day.
chet is lucky kid!

our ward starts at 1:30pm now.
and, impossible as this may seem, we managed to be late for it last week!
so, this week, we made sure we arrived on time.
we pulled into the parking lot at 1:20pm. so proud of ourselves.
...but the parking lot was empty.
turns out it was stake conference this week. and we missed it. completely.
come on!

so, instead of going to church today, we spent some time on the temple grounds.

holden is 13 weeks old.
he is a lanky little fellow.
9 lbs 1 oz.
23.5 inches.
he is officially on the charts for weight now.
he is only sitting at the 1st percentile, but at least he made it on!
he is a good eater, so i'm sure it won't be long until he is all caught up.

wanna know the best thing holden does?
he already sleeps 7-8 hours at night!
yay! life is so much better with sleep.

we baked a cake.

isn't it lovely?

right before we headed back to rexburg, jocelyn stopped by with all her girls. and i'm so glad she did.
we haven't been very good at living in the same country over the past 7 years!
so we don't see each other as much as i would like to.. and that makes me sad.

holden was able to receive his baby blessing while we were back in calgary.
thanks to our old bishop, we were able to do it at my parents house the night before we left.
it was nice. we had lots of lovely people come over to support holden.
unfortunately, holden wasn't on board with the whole idea of making it a special night...
we had a nice outfit picked out for him to wear, but he peed on it.
and then he cried through his entire blessing. actually, he screamed through it.
i'm not sure anyone could hear anything so hopefully it still worked :)
if nothing else, holden made it a blessing to remember.

my dad helped chet get all handsome.
all of matt's siblings were there.
[i know what you're thinking... i married into a good looking family. ya, i know.]
brothers [obviously!] - mitch and matt.
17 of the 20 leavitt cousins.
[i couldn't tell you why chet is topless..]
these are the 4 newest leavitt cousins - molly, chase, holden, and penny.
[if you are wondering, that is spit-up all down holden's onesie.]
best buds - josh and matt.
some more best buds - jocelyn and pam. [we swapped babies.]
brooke and holden were due just 3 days apart...but came 6 weeks apart.
this picture of them kills me!
check out holden's face and brooke's hair. so funny.
perhaps we will be able to use this at their wedding one day.

we also kind of celebrated matt's birthday that night since we would be spending 11 hours
of his actual birthday in our car with our boys and our dog. [poor guy!]
unfortunately, i only have one measly picture to prove that he turned 27.
yep, 27. i am married to an old fart.
happy birthday matty!

we met up with cichy's for a quick visit while we were back home.
it wasn't nearly enough time with them, but we will take what we can get.
they have been our best buds in rexburg.
but dave graduated from byui in the spring so they are no longer down there, and we sure miss them.
we secretly hoped dave wouldn't graduate so they would have to come back...
but, unfortunately, he did!
(ok, we didn't actually hope that! we aren't that awful.)

chet and summer went downstairs to play by themselves.
20 minutes later we found them like this...

our first day in calgary we found ourselves at a fun park.
it had this crazy spinning cup that you sit in:
we took turns trying to make each other sick on it.
judging by the way matt looks in this picture, i'm gonna say i did a pretty good job!

chet offered to catch me at the bottom of the slide.
haha thanks chet... but you might want to get out of the way!
