this is our littlest niece, london.
she is an itty bitty thing.
and she can't gain weight for the life of her.
at 3.5 months she is only 7lbs 4oz.
she is back in the children's hospital.
the doctors have ran about a billion tests on her poor little body, but they just can't figure out what is going on.
please keep her in your prayers. she could really use it.

we love you, london!

twice a week, at 5:00 am, a garbage truck drives into our parking lot and has a wrestling match with our garbage bins.
or at least that is what it sounds like.
i'm not exactly sure what this truck does to the bins, because i've never actually seen it, but it doesn't sound like it is just emptying them.
it is ridiculous.
it probably takes 20 minutes for the truck to drive around to all the bins and wrestle the trash out of them.
and i swear the ground shakes.
i feel like i get time warped back to when dinosaurs roamed the earth... but these dinosaurs throw giant, metal bins at each other.
and the sound of it is so gross. not just the sound of metal and concrete colliding. but also the heinous beeping sound of the truck switching in and out of reverse.
i wouldn't be surprised if i went out and saw the truck whipping bins up and down, and driving back and forth at the same time. hitting anything concrete in its way.

i'd like to have a word with our garbage man.
he has issues.

thank goodness it is the weekend so we won't have to be woken up so rudely for a while.

our weekend has already been lots of fun.

we went to the new rexburg water park with the cichy's. it's neat.
i tried taking pictures but our camera refused to focus that night. so you can check out the website here.
we spent more time at the old splash park.
chet rode his first toy horse.
and he met his first real horse.
we just happened to walk past an event where they were giving free horse and carriage
rides, and there wasn't anyone in line, so we hopped on!
you can't turn down a free carriage ride, right?

marley and me was on TV last night.
it is like the saddest movie ever.
it gets me everytime.

but even though that movie had me in a teary mess by the end of the night, the rest of my day was lovely.
i. love. summer.
we took chet to the splash park.
he was a little weary at first. typical...
but he did get a bit braver while we were there.
i have a feeling he is always going to be a cautious little fellow.
and i have a feeling he got that from me :)
oops.
the sun felt amazing.
and it was so fun to watch chet explore the park.
it is neat to see the way his little brain works. he is too cute.

we love chet to bits.
and will do a lot of gross things for him.

but we refuse to share drinks with him.

guess who doesn't have to clean any more bottles?
me!
chet has decided that he no longer wants to take a bottle.
it is the strangest thing because he has always loved them.

but about a week ago we handed chet his bedtime bottle and he snapped.
he refused to take it.
he literally ran away from it (chet-style). screaming.

and after a few nights of enduring his tantrums, we gave up.
"you don't want a bottle, chet?
fine."

i'm kind of sad that our little man is growing up so fast.
but i'm happy that he made that process so quick.
and i'm totally thrilled to be done with cleaning bottles. yay!
if i were filthy rich {and didn't care a thing for the environment} i would just toss bottles after each use.
seriously.

now that chet is a walking machine he is a lot trickier to photograph.
i get a lot of this..
and this..
but sometimes i get lucky..

oh, i like these boys. a lot.

we think we are pretty dang lucky to have a portable child.
whenever we want to hang out at a friends house for the night we know that chet will be fine to fall asleep at their place. and then transfer back to our house quite nicely.
but, now that he is older, we find him in the such uncomfortable places when we go to wake him up for the ride home. and it always makes us laugh.
(this time he started on the red sesame street matress with pillows on either side to block him in. and then made his way to the floor, without even making a peep.)

we were kind of adventurous this weekend.
well, not really.
but we spent lots of time outdoors. and that makes me feel adventurous.
on friday we went to a camp ground just outside of rexburg.
not to camp. eww.
we just explored for a bit.
there has been a ton of rain around here this past month so the campground is totally flooded. it's kinda crazy.
then, on saturday, we hiked R mountain.
it isn't actually a mountain. it's a butte. whatever that is...
these pictures make it look wimpier then it is. it's actually a perfect little hike - about a 6 mile roundtrip.
tank was hurtin' by the end! but chet did sooo good.
we were very impressed with chet. it could have been a really painful afternoon if he had of decided, half-way through, that he wanted to be a total wiener.
and we wouldn't put that past him :)
hands down, the best part of the hike was watching chet's limp, chubby calves bounce with every step matt took! i love everything about his goofy little body. it really is a shame that he can't walk around in just a diaper.
matt told me that it wouldn't work if i tried to take a picture of rexburg with our camera. and he was very right. but i still wanted to try!

chet has a new favorite toy.
a toy that i'm sure the people who live below us aren't too happy about!

i haven't gone this long without blogging since i started this thing.
oops.
but life has been different the past two weeks. and, as a result, this blog was neglected.

so, we went up to calgary for the memorial day long weekend.
and then matt had to head back to rexburg for school on the monday.
but i stayed in calgary to work.
yep, work.
at the lovely little job i had before chet came along.
i only worked for a few days, but it was a fun little taste of what is to come.
you see, life has worked out so perfectly that i will get to go back to that job while matt does an internship in calgary this fall.
and i'm excited about that.
am i sad to be leaving chet?
ooooh ya.
but going back to work will be good for me.

i'm back in rexburg now. back with matt.
oh my, i missed him.
and, to be honest, i missed rexburg too!

i planned on taking lots of pictures in calgary.. but i didn't. this is all i got.

friends.
chet played 'princess' with holli.
my newest niece, london. 10 weeks - 7lbs. she is soooo tiny!
girls night with my mom and sister.
chet hung out with his counsin, mac, and aunt melissa on my first full day back to work.
{thanks again, melissa.}
