when i was at the dentist a couple weeks ago, the Dr Oz show was on the TV. so i watched it.
and i learned that you are supposed to store your onions on the counter, not in the fridge.

fascinating, i know!

all these years i have been storing my onions in the wrong place.
how embarrassing.

so i decided to listen to Dr Oz. and you'll never guess what is happening..
our onion is growing onions.
i find it kind of gross, but matt just thinks it's the greatest.

he waters it.
he puts the onion on the window sill to help it grow.
and he added onion fertilizer to our shopping list.
i like matt :)

chet is at a great stage..

--he gives kisses on demand. open mouthed, of course.

--when we are out people offer him treats.
free treats - the best find.
(ice cream at mcdonalds, smarties at the grocery store..)
he is still kind of little to truly enjoy such treats, but it would be rude to decline.
so we always accept them.
and then.. we eat them!

don't worry, we share.

--we charged up an old cell phone for him and he takes it everywhere.
he thinks he's pretty special. it makes us laugh.

--he sleeps 10 hours at night. and still takes two naps.
and, lets be honest, is there anything better then a baby that sleeps well?
umm...nope.

--we have switched him over to real milk.
and now we don't have to smell chet's stinky formula burps!
those are the worst.
plus, i had no idea how delicious vitamin D/ homo milk is!
(yes, canadians call it homo milk. not sure why..)
so i have been known to steal a sip here and there. mmm.

--he is turning out to be a pretty good pal.

--and he has a reeeally sexy body.
haha ooh ya!

we went to the park today - took a nice stroll and played some frisbee.

and while we were at the park we saw a little truck, like this one:
it brought up a bad memory..

about a year ago matt and i were chatting about all the big trucks we see driving around rexburg. it must be an idaho thing to drive a big ol' truck, because there are a ton around here.
during that chat, i asked matt if he would like to drive a big truck one day.
he said he would.
and i innocently said "really? i think you would look better in a little truck." then i described the truck above.

well.. that was the wrong thing to say!

matt found my comment quite insulting!
and he still likes to remind me of it when we see little trucks.
so girls, don't tell your husbands that you think they would look cute in a small truck. it doesn't go over well.
oops.

happy easter, from chet.

i am absolutely terrible at cooking.
nothing ever works.
and that makes cooking not fun.
in fact it makes it stupid.

ya. cooking is stupid.

chet fell asleep in my arms last night.
he almost never does that anymore.
i loved it.
but it made me feel awful for getting so frustrated with him earlier in the day.
i often forget how little he still is.
sorry chetty.

we are back from our vacay.
it was fantastic.

here are some highlights from our week..

chet got to spend time with his grandma.
matt's brother came to visit.
i got to meet up with my friend lana.

chet got another tooth. a top one. teething stinks, but teeth are cute.

speaking of teeth. matt and i got our teeth cleaned when we were in arizona. is that a highlight of our week?! it sure is. because last time we got our teeth cleaned in calgary we paid 17 times what we paid in arizona. isn't that ridiculous?

i turned 25. which means i am now closer to 30 then to 20. gross.
but at least i got to celebrate my birthday in the sun. and NOT in calgary where it snowed 8 inches on my special day. oh man.

we re-kindled our love for the game uno.

matt golfed.

i have brown hair.. again.

matt got to be all manly and save us from gross things.
like this lizard.
and this rabbit.
a cat carried that rabbit into the yard and ripped it's head off while i was sitting right there.
i have always defended cats when people say they are gross. but after that stunt, i am done with cats.

and now we are back in the burg.
the end.

tank came with us to arizona.
he goes everywhere with us.
he is just a part of the family now, so we always cough up the ridiculous fee to fly him with us.
if it wasn't for those dang x-ray machines at the security check, i would totally try to smuggle tank in our carryon bag.

the airport staff always refer to tank as a 'live animal'.
they say things like, "and you have a live animal with you?"

umm. ya.
he is alive.

well.. he was last time we checked.

such an odd term. live.

i dream of living somewhere sunny one day.
life would feel like a gigantic vacation :)
palm trees, sun burns, driving golf carts in the mcdonalds drive thru.
yep, we did that.
twice!

this weekend went by way too fast.
probably because it was so fun.
we loved having our friends here with us.
i really sucked at taking pictures this weekend. but here are a few..
here is girl picture. (celebrating our 17 years of friendship).
and a boy picture. (very focused on their arcade game).
and a chet picture. (too distracted by kermit to look at the camera).
thanks for visiting joce and jeff. we miss you already!

when i picked matt up from school today i did some celebration honking as he walked to the car.

that embarrassed him.
sorry matty..

but we really do have so much to celebrate:
the semester is over!
matt is now a junior.
jeff and jocelyn are visiting for the weekend.
and we leave for AZ on monday.

matt is a trooper. this is the forth semester he has done right in a row.
and he isn't done yet.
he starts his fifth consecutive semester in 11 days.

people are always asking how much longer matt will be in school.
and the answer is: a while!
his degree takes 8 semesters and 2 internships to complete.
he is done 4 semesters and no internships.

that means you all still have plenty of time to plan a trip to rexburg to visit us. so do it!

chet is such a good eater.
he will try anything we put in front of him. it's great.
but we found one thing he really doesn't like..
rice.
what a goof.

"God does watch over us and does notice us,
but it is usually through someone else
that he meets our needs."
-President Spencer W. Kimball.

i have heard that quote a ton this past month.
and then it was used a few times in general conference this weekend.
i'm assuming it's a big old hint that i need to look for more ways to serve others..

i'm on it.

i wouldn't consider chet a real walker, but it won't be long. he is getting better everyday.
it is so exciting.
we are yet to get a good video to prove it though. so watch this short clip instead.
{no judging please!}

here are some other facts about chet:

lately he likes to make diaper changes more difficult then they need to be.
a chocolate chip instantly stops his tears.
he knows that he isn't supposed to touch the TV, but still does it.. usually while making eye contact with us!
he thinks high fives are funny.
snorting is his newest trick.
he has a sensitive little heart - it doesn't take much to scare him.
the hair at the top of his head is untamable. and i love it.
dropping things over the edge of his high chair is his favorite. especially when what he is dropping is food, and tank is there to pick it up.
he always pulls his socks off.
when i am jamming out to taylor swift in the car he likes to join in.
he has read the book of mormon front to back 4 times. (well.. the kids version).
matt and i could stare at him all day. he is just too cute.

an evening walk with sandals and just a hoodie?
don't mind if i do!
i think spring is really here this time!

every year i have to hassle matt to get me his tax information so i can file it.
and this year was no different. i bugged him for weeks about it.

taxes are due march 31.
and on march 31 i still didn't have matt's stuff.
so i resorted to bribing him with candy.
and, in a matter of minutes, i had everything i needed.

he is such a procrastinator!

but he made up for it today.

i found a tick in my hair this morning.
yep. a tick. in - my - hair.
it was awful.

i was standing in our bathroom, getting beautiful, when i found something in my hair.
i thought it was a knot so i tried to pull on it.
but when i pulled it out i realized that it surely wasn't a knot.
i screamed. and threw it.
then i called matt - frantic and in tears.
matt thought chet had died, based on the tone of my voice.
but, even when he found out that i was just upset about a bug, he was patient with me. and he agreed to come home from school to help me.

matt made sure that there weren't any more ticks on me.
(that brad paisley song hits really close to home now!)
and then he searched the bathroom for that sick bug.
thankfully he found it. i'm not sure i could have stayed in the house knowing that it was roaming around.
then we searched online to see what to do about it.

good news - it sounds like i am going to live.
but. the tick didn't.
matt read that they explode if you set them on fire.
so..
he set it on fire.
and, sure enough, it exploded.

i'm lucky to have such a sweet husband.
even if he does procrastinate.
and sets bugs on fire.
