chet has been going to nursery for 4.5 months now.

and yesterday was the first time that he didn't have a meltdown when we dropped him off. 

matt and i didn't know how to react when he casually strolled into the nursery room like it was no big deal.

it was super weird!
but i sure hope he keeps it up..

i think it was the new tie i made him last night that boosted his confidence.

i was going for a skinny tie..

just for the record, matt is the one who dresses chet for church 97% of the time.
and i think he does a dang good job.
my boys always look so handsome on sundays.
on other days of the week.. not always as handsome!

one highlight from our weekend was going to the craze to play in the climb center.

matt and i had to go in with chet because he had to idea what he was supposed to do, but

we quickly realized that our bodies aren't cut out for crawling through those tubes anymore!

we were grunting and groaning so much that chet started making complaining sounds too.

he is such a copy-cat these days. it's so funny.

last night, matt opened some mail to find his new debit card.
he had lost his last one a few months ago, so this was much needed.

but immediately chet wanted the card so, without thinking, matt gave it to him.

and then the card went missing...

we looked everywhere - everywhere chet's little arms could reach.

we looked in every drawer, cabinet, box, bag, garbage, shoe, and couch.

we looked in appliances, under furniture, and were even desperate enough to look in rooms we were certain chet had't been in.

but the card was no where to be found.

then matt had a genius idea... he gave chet a different card and watched what he did with it.

chet confidently walked straight to the playstation and started sliding the card in the dvd slot.
he knew exactly where it belonged!

sure enough, we found the missing card in there too.

it wasn't easy getting it out. we had to destroy a pair of tweezers in the process. but we eventually got it.

and now we always know how to find missing things - just let chet lead the way :)

i like chet.

chet is a pop freak.
we have to be very sneaky when we are drinking it so he doesn't notice.
but he caught me cracking open a can of fresca the other night, so matt poured a couple sips in a cup for him.
then matt asked him to say please.
but chet refused.
he pouted. he yelled. he ignored us. and he said just about everything but please.
but he would not give in.
is he even old enough to be stubborn?!
it was sooo frustrating.
we sincerely wanted to give him the pop, if he would just say please.
but he never did. and he never got any.


we took mr. stubborn bowling this weekend.

of the 7 of us there, i had the worst score. not shocking.
sometimes i can pull off a fluke good score when i'm 5 pin bowling. but never with 10 pin.
10 pin bowling is too hard. for me, atleast.
chet didn't seem to have any trouble.
even though he spent most of that night flirting with summer, he still managed to score a 104.
the second highest score in our group!

wanna hear something crazy?

i, pamela leavitt, am reading a book.

a real, big person book.

and, i am loving it!

i don't usually have the desire to pick up a book, scary book.

but ever since we went to see the latest twilight movie, back in november, matt and i
have been obsessed with the hunger games movie that previewed before it.

it looks a-ma-zing!

matt is now on book 3. (he got his greedy little hands on our only copy of book 1 before me..)
i am still in book 1. but i am totally hooked.
i can hardly wait for the movie to come out.
only 63 days, 23 hours, and 43 minutes..
(the hunger games website has a countdown, i'm not that obsessed!)


if you are wondering how chet's hand is, here is a nasty picture for you..

if this was my hand, no one would want to be around me because i would be pretty dang miserable.
but chet is being such a champ. love him.

chet got his first burn yesterday.

he was helping me cook an egg for his lunch when it happened

his hand touched the hot burner and i literally heard it sizzle.

it was a really awful sound.

he screamed a lot, and with good reason.. just looking at his hand makes me feel weak.

but now he is handling it really well.
he was even willing to try finger painting with me today.

our finger painting didn't last too long.
chet didn't really like having messy hands.
but we were able to create this masterpiece that is now gracing our fridge with its presence.

we took chet to see puss in boots today.
other then a time when we took him as a newborn, this was his first time in a theater.
and, oh my, he thought he was pretty special to be there!

he looked so grown up sitting and watching the movie.
and when he was holding the big bucket of popcorn, it melted my heart!
chet is a doll.

i am about to treat you to an entire post about chet sawyer leavitt...

we measured him yesterday.

he is 22 months.

26 pounds.

34 inches.

he is so cute, but so naughty at times.

he calls his blanket "B". and if anything even slightly sad happens he asks for his B.

he does big manly burps at the most embarrassing times. for example: sacrament meeting.

he still only has 12 teeth. and i'm starting to worry...

he doesn't like to have dirty hands.

he likes watching movies now! and it is very handy. unfortunately, we only have 2 kids

movies and matt and i are so sick of both of them.

he sleeps from 8:30pm - 9:00am every night. without fail.

he says everything is "mine". i'm not sure he will ever learn to share.

when we are praying at a meal he usually keeps one arm folded and 'secretly' eats with the other arm. it's so funny.

chet thinks praying is fun so sometimes he insists we pray a couple times during a meal.

"...we are still grateful for this food..."

he is getting better at naming animals (dog, duck, kitty). but he always says 'mom' when he sees a goat. and i find it quite insulting.

i taught him how to pout.

matt taught him how to say wiener.

chet has the silliest hair when he wakes up.

my dad gave chet the nickname "hair-do".

it is very fitting!

and speaking of my dad, i love this picture of chet with him.

on thursday night i somehow deleted all the pictures and videos i had in iphoto.

all 2480 of them!
and those 2480 pictures weren't saved anywhere else. so i thought that were gone forever.
it was the worst night ever.
i was so sad. and sooo mad at myself.
the thought of losing ALL of our pictures of chet was devastating.


so, this weekend involved a lot of tears...
and even some full on sobbing in front of total strangers at the computer store.
it wasn't ideal! but it all worked out.


this morning, i got to pick up my computer with all our pictures back on it.
the pictures are all out of order, which is going to be a total pain in the butt.
but i am too happy to even care right now.
i even baked the computer store some cookies and wrote them a
thank you/sorry-for-sobbing-in-your-store note to show them just how thrilled i am :)


now back to catching up on my blogging...
we got some really cute pictures of chet's cousins before we left calgary.

chet has the loveliest little cousins.
he was kind of nervous around them when we first moved up to calgary this summer,
but he learned to love them to bits.
he misses them.

our new years eve consisted of friends, chinese food, and fireworks...

and then home by 8:30 to put chet to bed!
