matt and i spent 6 days apart last week.
we were 2 whole time zones apart.
:(
i missed him.
but we both had a lot of fun on our different trips.

matt headed off to reno for the ASC competition.
his team kicked some hiney.
they finished in 1st place!
and matt now has some companies [in warm places] that are interested in him.
one company is even flying him out to california for an interview.
and now i can't stop day dreaming about our life in california.
in my dream, our house backs onto the beach. and i drive a range rover.
it's basically like the OC, but i'm the main character.
[random fact: the first time matt and i held hands was while watching an episode of the OC. so cute, huh?]

anyways..
matt and his team had worked really hard to prepare for the competition so i was thrilled that they did so great.
i am just the proudest little wife.

since matt was going to be away, my mom and i planned a trip down to texas to visit my sister.
she just moved down to the houston area (katy) this summer.
i had never been to texas before, so i was excited to see what all the fuss is about.

my mom drove down from calgary and flew out of idaho falls with us.
she could've flown straight from calgary to houston, so i felt bad that she made such a long detour on our behalf.
but, honestly, i would have lost my mind if i had've made that journey without her help!
everything worked out in the end, but we experienced all sorts of bumps along the way.
delayed flights + short layovers + ridiculous amounts of luggage + 2 little people + HUGE airports + no time to get food + getting sent in the absolute wrong direction + missing luggage =
my mom and i laughing hysterically at our misfortune..
and then me eventually bursting into tears.
it was the lost luggage that pushed me over the edge.
ugh.
i laugh when i think back on the days when i used to be excited to travel by plane.
now it is just exhausting!
i don't know how parents do it with lots of kids. or with nasty kids.
chet and holden were so good. they were quite easy to please.
and this was the first time that chet really appreciated the fact that he was on a plane.
so he was pretty fascinated by it all!
that boy melts my heart.
[holden's first plane ticket]

since i am talking about flying..
i just have to mention that my suitcase seriously gets 'randomly' checked by TSA every time i fly.
every time.
it happened on my way to houston, and on the way back.
when i open up my bag i always find that little note that says they snooped through my bag.
apparently they don't trust my green suitcase.

before we headed to houston, my mom spent a couple days with us in rexburg.
so these are all pre-texas pictures.
i have lots of texas pictures to post next.

[my mom wanted to take a picture of the big mound of snow right outside our door!
it's gross.
but do you see the temple next to matt's head?
we are definitely going to miss having such a nice view of a temple when we leave rexburg.]
[we took my mom sledding.]
[tanky went sledding too. against his will.]
[on monday morning, my mom came and watched chet's gymnastics class.
she took pictures... until she got in trouble.]
[chet got his first ribbon ever that day!
matt and i were way too proud!]
[handing out the ribbons.]
[the ribbon!!]
