here are a bunch of things we have been up to lately..
we still do the usual story times, trips to playgrounds, and errand running during the week.

chet participated in a fun run at his school. he was super excited when i told him that people would pay money for each lap he ran... and then equally disappointed when he found out he had to give that money to the school! haha. chet ran 35 laps (the max was 36) and we were really proud of him. now, can we be done with fundraising already?! because i seriously feel like there is some sort of fundraiser going on every other day. is this what i have to look forward to for the next 16 years?!
we met up with one of our friends from high school, tom strother, a few weeks ago. he was in town with a girlfriend and we met them at griffith part one night for a picnic overlooking downtown LA and the hollywood sign. if they get married some day, we will take credit for setting such a romantic scene for them to fall even more in love! (if only our kids weren't there..)
(tom took our family picture in front of the hollywood sign. literally. like, you can hardly even see the sign! come on!)
our boys have made some really sweet friends here. and, lucky thing is, the moms of said kids are sweet too! chet had a twins day at school this past week and dressed up with his best buddies - kai, valentina, and ruby.

matt caught a frog while we were on a walk the other week. i like to look at frogs, but don't really care to touch them. so, when the frog hopped on my leg, i naturally screamed like a fool! my reaction to this frog on my leg will probably not help tad and his relationship with amphibians in the coming years! oops.
my dad came to visit for a few days. his timing was impeccable, as i was sick and loved having the extra hands to help out. i swear, we wouldn't have survived that week without him! this is the only proof i have that he was here though..
we checked out the broad museum in downtown LA this weekend. it's free, so we thought we may as well see the sights! it was actually a really neat display of modern art. i would enjoy going back with matt one day. but, as with most things we do these days, we had to do a speed trip through the museum before losing the interest of our children! after the museum, we just happened to find this super rad splash pad down the street. it was the perfect compromise - a little culture and a little play!
(some guy offered to take our family photo, which was nice, but he totally missed getting the display in the background! oh well.. i will never pass up a chance to get all 5 of us in a picture.)
(chet has this new fascination with selfies.. it was bound to happen!)
