stupid photobucket.

welp, my blog has fallen way behind. and i am sad about it. i blame it all on a photo hosting website called photobucket. perhaps it is a bit my fault too. but... mostly theirs!

years ago, i ran out of space on my blogger account to upload photos for this blog. it was confusing at the time but, long story short, i ended up finding a new website (photobucket) to upload my photos to, and then link them to my blog from there. blah blah blah. i have been doing this for years - for hundreds of posts, and who knows how many photos - and all was well. i have paid a reasonable yearly fee to use a small amount of storage. until... photobucket decided to charge people like me - who use their services to store family photos that i use on a private blog - $400/year to have the ability to see my photos when they are linked to a site other then theirs. what the heck!? i was so mad. it was so slimy. matt says i should have seen it coming (and he is probably right), but it still made me furious. especially because they only gave customers 4 days notice of this change. nonetheless, this meant that the past few years of photos on my blog were replaced with a photobucket icon, and i was devastated. but i was also ready to take a stand. this wasn't right! and i let photobucket know how i felt about it. and i did it in about 30 emails and public harassment on their instagram account until they finally had their customer service manager contact me and offer me a deal at a tenth of the cost. woohoo! it won't last forever; just a couple years. but, at least for now, i have time to figure out how i want to move forward.

anyways, that is that. and now the catch up game shall begin!
