matt just got his first long weekend from work, thanks to memorial day.
we hiked the los liones trail again for a long weekend activity.
this time we did it with the kids.
we had to skip the first part of the hike because the path is really narrow at the start. our stroller never would have fit.
so we found a curvy road that led us past lots of snazzy homes and eventually to a gate with this ridiculous lock on it:
{dear gatekeeper.
in this situation, 7 locks is absolutely
no more secure then just 1.
sorry to burst your bubble.}

we hopped over the gate and started our hike there.
it was a bit more challenging this time - hauling 50 lbs of children. plus a stroller.
but we did it!
and we got lots of compliments from other hikers on how tough we were!
matt did the majority of the pushing, thankfully.
and even when i did take my turn at pushing, chet usually wasn't in the stroller. i got it easy.
chet totally impressed us with his hiking abilities.
not necessarily with his speed [because he stopped to look at every rock, flower, potential lizard home, etc.] but with his endurance.
i'm sure we will visit that trail again. it's perfect for us..
close to home, stroller-worthy paths, and the views are gorgeous.
plus, it's 'hike-y' enough that matt isn't bored but not not too 'hike-y' that i'm not interested.
we have to find a balance with this kind of thing.
matt likes being outdoors to explore, rough it, and campout.
i like to be outdoors to enjoy sunshine, fresh air, and pretty scenery.
very different agendas!
ALL i wanted was for them to look at the camera.
but it turns out that was way too much to ask for.
[and i was doing some seriously funny stuff behind the camera!]
i have about 8 more pictures like these ones..
sometimes posing for pictures is hard.

on the way down we made chet sit in the stroller because it was getting late, and we didn't want to get stuck out there in the dark.
chet really wanted to walk. he insisted he wasn't tired.
but it took him all of about 5 minutes to fall asleep.
and he stayed asleep the whole way down. it was crazy, that trail was bumpy!
sometimes i can't believe what these boys can sleep through.

on monday we were trying to go grocery shopping but the road in front of the store we wanted to go to was blocked for a parade.
so we figured we might as well get out and enjoy the parade.
but it was probably the most boring parade, ever.
we didn't stay long!
