we have been here for just over a month now.
matt just finished his third week of work.
and in the first three weeks, he was taken out for lunch 11 of 15 days.
three times for sushi.
probably because on the first day, when asked what he liked to eat, he said 'anything but sushi'.
rookie mistake.
[we don't do sushi, by the way!]
and we can't get over the amount of sushi joints around here.
sushi and donuts. weird, right?
oh, and helicopters.
i guarantee i've seen more helicopters this past month then i have the rest of my life combined.
chet thinks it is pretty neat.
chet also really likes that fact we live in california.
he often asks 'where are we?'
and i will reply by telling him where we are - home, the park, the store.
and then he will say, 'noooo. we are in california!'
which is true.
but he just likes to point that out because he recently made the connection that lightning mcqueen goes to california in the first cars movie.
and he thinks it's pretty great that he and mcqueen have that connection.
my sister and her family are coming to visit in 3 weeks.
and we get to do disneyland and california adventure with them.
i think chet's heart is going to explode when we go to carsland and he sees mcqueen and mater!
can't wait.

i'm almost caught up on all my posts. but not quite.
so..
one of our very first activities when we got here was going to griffith park.
which makes this post about one month late. oops.

griffith park is a huge park in the middle of the LA area.
when we looked it up, it was said to be a lot like central park. but bigger.
it sounds like there are a billion things you can do there.
so we will definitely need to go back and check some more of them out.

chet got to ride a pony while we were at griffith park, and it was so funny.
mostly because the guy who put chet on the pony didn't say a word to us.
you would think he would give some instruction to us as we send our toddler off on a pony.. but nope!
absolute silence.
he grabbed chet from us, plopped him on the pony, and off the pony went.
the pony did a couple loops around the trail, walked back to his stall, and the man handed chet back to us.
no words. at all.

[despite the lack of enthusiasm chet is showing in these pictures, he really did enjoy the ride!
he often asks to do it again.]

we also went on a little train ride.
i think this is the best chet smile we have ever caught on camera!
